Incentive Solutions - New California Film Tax Incentives

The new tax credit is offered to the California film industry as result of the meeting between state legal representatives and the members from industry. While the industry wanted more incentives for the production, the tax credit was appreciated by most as positive step. The meeting took place in Pasadena, and many other issues including the industry employment rate was also discussed. It was reveled that there is an overall decline in the job market especially in the Los Angles area.

The agreement on the start of tax incentives was the reason that the situation which was seen as the Battle Los Angles was turned into the LA Louisiana. One member who was more vocal about various issues being faced by the industry was Ed Duffy, he was representing the Teamsters Local. This is anticipated that after the tax credit that is generous to say the least, the trend of runaway shooting will be seized for sure.

While arguing his side, Ed Duffy said that the beautiful locations or weather is not enough for the industry to keep working under tax regime that has been tough on the industry which is being hit by approaching recession quietly. In his illustrations he showed how the economic tide is sweeping over the film making capital of the world to the more relaxed places.

On the similar note the Larry Thompson was invited as independent filmmaker; according to him the dream makers are cutting corners to provide the least expensive product. This trend according to him was going to reduce the level of production in the industry. This tax credit is not only targeted at the film makers but television also.

The results of the meetings in Pasadena have not only given the tax credit but a glimmer of hope according to the Amy Lemisch. She is the excretive director with the extremely busy body The Film Commission of California. It is expected that total benefits of more then $100,000,000 will flow to the film and television industry as result of this tax credit. According to her this is fraction as compare to the New York tax credit which is more then four times of this.

One study has shown that from the start of this tax incentive, there are more then 120 projects that have benefited directly from this. These qualified projects are generating the employment and business Incentive Solutions for the community as well. With 25 thousand crew, and six thousand actors benefiting from this, this tax incentive is good for the wining the votes as well.
