Activities such as meditation and yoga can help you move toward a peaceful state of mind and decreasing or eliminating smoking, sugar and caffeine can also help prevent or lower the chances of more attacks.
After a panic episode occurs, the natural reaction is to stay away from certain places or fear specific activities or stay in a worried state. But just the opposite is what is needed. A relaxed and calm attitude is the best way to prevent or diminish future attacks. As soon as the panic subsides, drink some water and try to go somewhere to rest. Try to keep encouraging people around you for support and comfort. You could also learn some breathing and stretching technique that will help you relax after in intense situation.
So, if you have had a panic attack or know someone who has, you know that the unknown can be scary. But learning about the things that possibly lead to the episodes can help you hopefully avoid them. And learning thing to help you when one does happen will help you decrease the effects that have on your body and lifestyle.
