I don't watch local television channels, not because I feel they are un-intellect and often provide amateur programs either rated for 18 and above or are destined for the 90 percent Pakistanis who have no other means of whiling away those hours, of which they feel they need to give themselves a break from the daily bread and butter chores. Certainly, not because of those boring morning shows in which there is nothing to concentrate upon except those designer dresses that our talkative women wear out to market their label brands and capture millions of attention at a glance. Non-stop talking is an art especially when it helps makes you extra bucks, who would not go try their luck in local television channels. Not even because of those funky evening shows that try harder to present our societal dilemmas, all wrapped up in sexual intimacies in a hope to get attention of our youth.
But simply because of the fact that every time I flick through the local television channels, out of the curiosity of what's happening in our country, it appears to me as if our anchorpersons in programs sponsored by a dozen mobile network advertisements are in a continuous race, attempting to turn politicians up against each other.
Seriously if this prolongs, it won't take much longer for our media to fall flat and believe me, in a couple of months, leave alone years, our media will find it difficult, nay impossible, to carry on with such proceedings', where emphasis is more on exposing the negative, rather personal side of our politicians, and rather than highlighting on the future endeavors of our national politicking, the focus is on how to invite and ignite the opposition parties against each other. Inviting politicians and then enjoy being playing them against each other goes in tandem with the unethical policy of attacking their personals, something our media excels!
I don't think this game will ever be going to last, because Pakistani people will soon feel the boredom and apart from the fact whether or not our media follows into the footsteps of a fifth columnist is the fact that bothers all Pakistanis alike, "where is media's accountability"? It appears as if our media is a bully under-aged boy who only likes to be paparazzi. So, I don't watch our local television program anymore, to avoid learning from those paparazzi is what I can do by not watching our creepy political analysis. It is better to be off with our media who leaves no stone unturned than to put at stake all leftover credibility!
