Electric Showers, The Right Choice ?
Electric Showers, The Right Choice ?

People can get confused over the choice of showers that are available in todays market place. There is so much conflicting information out there and every manufacturer is (understandably) telling the world that their brand is best, so let's take a closer look at electric showers. At we retail electric showers from the top manufacturers, Mira, Redring, Triton, and Galaxy.

The basic electric shower takes a cold water feed, heats it internally via an electric element and delivers water at the chosen temperature to the shower head. The main disadvantages of this system are flow rate and ambient water temperature. The water will take longer to heat in Winter when the ambient water temperature is lower than it will in Summer. This is reflected in the flow rate, longer heating time = lower flow rate. the higher the wattage of the shower, the faster it heats the water so the better the flow rate. Always choose the highest wattage that you can afford.

in the last few years there have been various improvements to the basic model and electric showers are now available with extended lever handles and audible warnings for the disabled and the visually impaired. One example of this is the Mira advance ATL thermostatic electric shower which is described as "Safe, precise, thermostatically controlled showering for total peace of mind. Inclusively designed for easy use by everyone. With the Advance ATL Extra, if the temperature ever rises above a pre-set level, the shower turns off automatically. No wonder it's one of the few electric showers to have been awarded the BEAB CARE mark for safety"

Not all electric showers are white or white and chrome, Tritons Aaspirante range is available also in black gloss, black pearl, brushed steel, gun metal, and riviera sand. Triton also make the Inscriptions range available in a variety of colours.

All electric showers need a cold water supply and an electric supply on site. The electric supply should have it's own circuit breaker in the fusebox and it is a job for a proffesional installer, water and electricity can be a lethal combination
