It has 65% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with 161 reviews and 6.1 star rating on IMDb. The movie is also known as Suddenly 30 in Australia and Sugar and Spice in some other places.

It is a romantic fantasy movie which has similar premise to such movies as Wish Upon a Star and Freaky Friday and such classic short story as Rip Van Winkle. The movie shows that a girl falls asleep and wakes up 17 years later as an older person, who is a successful magazine editor. In the movie, Mark Ruffalo plays the character of Matt Flamhaff and Jenna Rink is played by Jennifer Garner. For this same role other actresses such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Hilary Swank, and Renee Zellweger were also considered for the part of Jenna Rink. The movie faced competition from another hit teen comedy, Mean Girls. The movie never the less went on to become of the year's biggest DVD rentals and sellers. Entertainment Weekly gave it an A- rating and the others went on to give positive to favorable reviews.

The movie does not disappoint the audience at all. It is a light hearted affair. It is very good for a fun time with your friends and loved ones. This one movie that a person can see over and over again and yet not get bored from watching it all the time. The performance of Jennifer Garner has been delivered with much authenticity to the role and innocence of the character that has to be kept.
