The cost of energy these days continually increase. This is why knowing how to build a homemade electric generator is an important skill to learn. But first, what is an electric generator? Well, a generator is a device that moves a magnet near a wire to create a steady flow of electrons.

An electric generator consists of a discrete coil that is situated on a machined base and magnets that are situated alongside with wire-eroded tungsten blocks as additional mass. This inertial magnets and mass combination were designed to vertically vibrate with the magnetic circuit that was designed to maximize fluctuation gradient that runs across the copper coil; thus generating power and voltage. Now, to build a homemade generator, what you need are the following: 4 - 1cm x 2cm x 5cm ceramic magnet; 1 - 30-gauge magnet wire, 200ft; 1 - miniature incandescent lamp (light bulb), 1.5V/25mA; 1 - cardboard strip (or Plexiglas or thin wood), 8cm x 30cm; 1 - large nail, at least 8cm long; sandpaper to strip the wires; and tape to secure wires.
Step one is to create an open-ended box, with a hole at the center. Then, you have to pick the spool of 30-gauge magnet wire (the thinnest wire) from the kit of spools. Tape one end of the magnet wire to the side of the box, and wind the entire spool of wire horizontally onto the box.
Pull the taped end of the wire out, and tape down both of the wires about 10cm from the ends so the coil doesn't unwind. With the sandpaper, scrape the thin coating off 2cm of the wire ends. Stick the four magnets together face to face in two pairs, and then stick the two pairs on either side of the nail (inside the box) so they grab the nail. Push the magnets around until they are somewhat balanced and even, then spin the nail and see if they turn freely. Twist one of the scraped ends of generator wire securely around the silver tip of one wire from the small light bulb, and the other around the tip of the other light bulb wire.
This is how to build a homemade electric generator.
