Brisbane Still Roaring

A week after their dramatic A-league grand final win, Brisbane and its beloved team are still celebrating. With one of the most dramatic finishes to any game let alone any grand final of all time, Brisbane captured its first A-league premiership and with it, legendary status.

After a scoreless 90 minutes and with only 5 minutes left in extra time, Brisbane staged the most dramatic grand final comeback of all time. Down 2 goals to nil, Henrique pulled a goal back for the Roar in the 117th minute. Then with the last play of the game Erik Paartalu headed in the equaliser and sent the game to penalties. In the shootout the Roar had two saves from goal keeper Michael Theoklitos before Henrique scored the penalty that completed the fairy tale comeback.

With the unlikely victory, Brisbane extended its unbeaten run to 28 matches and confirmed themselves as one of, if not the best sporting team in Australian history.

Celebrations don't look like slowing down anytime soon, the team being given the keys to the City by Lord Mayor Campbell Newman at the recent city parade. It will be near impossible for the other Brisbane based teams from rival codes to match what the Roar did this season, and with the expectations of a dynasty, the Roar may have become Brisbane's number one sports team.

Our Roar Preview before the final --> I think the final answered our question!

When the Brisbane Roar host the A-League grand final at Suncorp Stadium in one weeks time, they will step onto the pitch with the weight of history on their shoulders.

If they manage to win the grand final it will be their first premiership in A-League history and keep their 27 match unbeaten run intact.

This year has seen the Brisbane Roar break almost every record in the A-League's history.

With the most wins in a season, most points in a season, most goals in a season and longest undefeated streak just to name a few. The Brisbane Roar is on the verge of being the best football team of any code in modern history.

All that stands in their way is one victory, come Sunday the 13th of March, an A-League premiership won't be the only thing the Brisbane Roar will be playing for.

If they fall at the final hurdle their record breaking season will be forgotten and all the accolades that have come with it. Ask any Roar player and they will tell you they would trade all the wins and all the goals for that A-League premiership. No one remembers the beaten grand final team but it will be impossible for the Roar players to forget if their season falls one win short.

The two teams vying to upset the Roar's perfect season is the Central Coast Mariners and Gold Coast United.

Having narrowly lost their major semi final against Brisbane after squandering a 2 goal advantage, Central Coast have the belief they can pull off the upset and beat Brisbane on their home turf.

Before they get their rematch they will have to contend with a tough Gold Coast side. From their 4 matches played against each other this season, Gold Coast have only lost once and come into the match with a home win against Wellington and a tough 3-2 away win against Adelaide last weekend.

If Gold Coast were to make their way into the grand final it will guarantee a sell out crowd at Suncorp Stadium as it will be the first all Queensland final in A-League History. No matter what team the Brisbane Roar play in the grand final they will be one win away from history.
