Make My Own Website Instructions

Then I found someone who taught me step by step how to do it and I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. Here's how you do it, in a nutshell:

1st - Choose a Domain Name. Think about a domain name and begin searching to find one that fits. Go to any Domain Registrar, like Godaddy.com and search for an available name that suits you! (Don't get stalled here, I'm slightly obsessive compulsive and this took me forever, they are cheap, so don't worry, you can always just get another one if you come across one you just have to have.) It should only cost you about $10-$15. Set a time limit that you are comfortable with for your search, for example 20 minutes, then buy it.

This is a huge hurdle to cross, so I want to stress,

JUST DO IT!!

You'll be glad you did!

2nd - Select a Hosting Company. There are many hosting companies out there, just remember that when you are getting started, you don't need to spend a fortune. Hostgator.com is very reasonable, at the time I'm writing this article it runs between $5/month and $9/month for their basic program depending upon how long you want to commit.

3rd - Design your site! This is where it can get a little tricky! Your hosting company will most likely offer web page design and templates that will make it easy to get started. If you are looking for QUICK, this is the way to go. You can have your site up and running in just a few minutes or a few hours at the longest (if you've got very little computer experience).

If you want more flexibility and would like to do a lot of your own designing, then there are lots of FREE options to get this done. I use Kompozer.com to design my sites and FileZilla.com to upload them to my host. This is all very DOABLE but does take a bit more education. If you are interested in putting lots of you own pictures and videos on your site, in whatever order and format you want, and you want to really YOU UP your site, this is the step you'll want to spend some time learning. Both Kompozer and FileZilla are very easy to use and offer tutorials on their sites which can help you get started.

4th - Drive Traffic to YOUR SITE!! This is only necessary if you are interested in making money from your site, or selling something at your web page. But, if you do intend to make a business out of it, this is also very DOABLE. It just takes some time and effort learning about the different options available for free traffic or if you so desire, paid website promotion. If you do a search on TRAFFIC GENERATION you'll find information on most of the more basic and common ways to create traffic. For example, Forum Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, Online Giveaways, Article Marketing, and a myriad of other options for generating traffic to your site. This does take time and energy, so be prepared to put in some effort here. Just think about what you want to see happen in your life in the next few years, this may be the first step you take to get you there!

I sincerely hope this helps to jump start your creativity and you reach your goal of creating your own website very soon!!

Remember, nothing gets finished that doesn't get started.

My Very Best To You,
