Phentermine the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Phentermine has been the most popular prescription weight loss pill for decades. It is currently sold under many different brand names such as, Adipex, Ionamin, Obenix, Redusa, Zantryl, and many more including a generic version. Phentermine helps people lose weight through appetite suppression and increased metabolism and has had varying degrees of success through the years.

Phentermine has some good aspects to it; it does help overweight people lose weight over a short term. It also is approved by the FDA, which is no easy feat for weight loss medications, which seem to be turned down quite frequently. People who have taken this medication have experienced some pretty good results in the first few weeks of using Phentermine shedding many unwanted pounds. It does seem that many people who have used it and had a good experience with it would use it again.

The problem with Phentermine is that while it has some good points they can be outweighed (no pun intended) by its bad points. Phentermine can only be used for a short period of time, this is for a couple of reasons; first Phentermine is considered a controlled substance much like an amphetamine because of this it can become addicting. Another reason for the short term use is that your body will become used to it and it will no longer have any effect unless you stay off it for a while and restart again at a later date.

There are also many serious and even deadly side effects associated with Phentermine. Some side effects are:

Feeling short of breath, even with mild exertion;

Chest pain, feeling like you might pass out;

Swelling in your ankles or feet;

Pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest;

Confusion or irritability, unusual thoughts or behavior;

Feelings of extreme happiness or sadness; or

Dangerously high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, buzzing in your ears, anxiety, confusion, chest pain, shortness of breath, uneven heartbeats, seizure).

Less serious phentermine side effects may include:

Feeling restless or hyperactive;

Headache, dizziness, tremors;

Insomnia;

Dry mouth;

Diarrhea or constipation, upset stomach;

With the numerous and potential fatal side effects that are associated with Phentermine it seems only reasonable that you should look into other solutions for your weight loss needs. You should always consult a physician before starting any weight loss program or any type of diet pill
