It's incredible to me: I couldn't believe that with the Economy in a terrible condition and so many people: a good portion of the country out of work: unemployed, that any company would want to: actually raise their rates: increase pricing.
It would be smarter if they'd want to make their customers happy: clients satisfied and on board: loyal. In that case the a smart move would be to reduce cable prices not raise them.
All they're doing is making it more difficult for consumers to not want to switch, especially when there are alternatives. Even though I'd been with my cable company for many years, if I couldn't depend on lower cable prices in return I'd have not choice but to find a new provider.
Before I knew it I began examining the satellite TV companies like DISH Network and DIRECTV DIRECTV and DISH Network. I had seen their commercials stating they had the answer for disgruntled cable users looking to reduce cable prices.
While the price did seem a whole lot better than my monthly payment, I was worried about whether the satellite dish would keep on working if it was raining badly, or on windy days. As it happens the satellite service providers had dealt with these problems and had upgraded their technology. Looking at DISH Network, they had improved technology in a such a way that users experienced less service interruptions than cable clients!
Since I wasn't working: Given that I had no job to go to, I had some time on my hands and began looking for the TV service that would allow me to start saving, and give me more bang for my buck.
Right away the first thing I noticed was that the only way I would ever see lower cable prices, was to give up cable altogether. I was going to have to choose either, DIRECTV and DISH Network.
Both companies offered a great rate for the first 12 months. The DIRECTV Choice package that comes with 150 channels and The America's Top 120 from DISH Network are priced the same at less than $30.00 per month. But, after the initial year of service the everyday, regular price from DIRECTV jumps to more than $60 each month while the regular price from DISH Network is still reasonably priced at just $44.99 each month. That's a savings over $165: You save more than $165! Another possibility is that they increase prices. I might end up paying almost as much as I was paying with my cable provider.
Here's another advantage that you get with DISH Network. the 2-year contract lets you freeze the regular price till the year 2013|. So DISH Network took the lead.
Like the majority of Americans, I am a football fanatic. As soon as everyone I know found out I was thinking about switching from cable over to satellite dish television, I was flooded with phone calls about the Sunday Ticket from DIRECTV. This is the biggest package you can get for all the games shown on Sundays, but it does come at a price, with a big price tag of more than $300! That is certainly a lot to shell out for football alone, especially in my financial situation. With DISH Network, if I wanted to splurge on sports, I could add the Multi-Sports package, which not only included NFL Redzone, but NBA TV, the NHL Network, Fox Soccer & Fuel TV. You get all of that for just $7.00 each month.
I then started to break down what else I would get. {While DISH Network had 120 channels I would get an extra 30 more with DIRECTV|DIRECTV gave me an additional 30 channels where DISH Network only offered 120. with both of them.
All good, especially from companies that have such great reputations. But I'll tell you what finally decided it for me|. Having no idea I would be unemployed, I bought the biggest & baddest HD-TV that could fit in my living room. So when I heard that the satellite TV companies were offering Free HD, I was really excited. Even if they did manage to get lower cable prices, could my former cable company match this offer. Both DIRECTV and DISH Network provide HD at no cost, but again DISH Network came out ahead because even though DIRECTV offers it for a whole year , which isn't bad is pretty good, DISH Network offers it Free for Life, which is definitely better.
Taking everything into consideration I picked DISH Network when you look at everything there is to consider, the motivation for why I went through this exercise was to save money, and if I got some cool free stuff in the process even better.
One more thing I wanted to mention. It may have been different for you, but for me, whenever I deal with cable company customer service has been less than stellar. They have left me waiting on hold for what seems like hours something I'm positive has happened to anyone dealing with cable. This time it was completely different. I can't get over how nice and responsive the DISH Network sales agent was. Not only did they pick up the phone right away when I called them, but they took me through the order process very quickly. They even made suggestions to {help me figure out how to save the largest amount of cash while getting the most for what I paid for. I kept thinking that there was going to be some kind of catch, but it never came. What I got was great service, a scheduled date for service at my convenience and such great and cheap television that I will never ever fall for any ad that offers lower cable prices {which we all know are not true at all'cause it just ain't so.
