Reebok ZigTech

Reebok is beginning to once again bring out styles that are getting people talking and excited about wearing the brand. The last truly innovative big seller they had goes back all the way to the Pump in the 80's. Since then the brand has been taken over by the Adidas group and along with the takeover has come some fresh styling and innovation. In 2009 we saw the launch of the EasyTone. Based on DMX max walking technology the shoe was designed to create natural instability while walking. Giving one the sense that they were walking on balance balls. The shoe has been reviewed as being very comfortable with women noticing a definite increase in muscle work load. The result, a firmer butt while being used for everyday application.

The Reebok Zigtech has taken another old and popular technology known as 3d Ultralite. A blown eva which results in a much softer eva compound and great cushioning. They then incorporated a Zig Zag shape into the design. This creates an almost spring effect. The final product a very lightweight well cushioned shoe that adds some bounce in your stride. A real winner for competitive runners. Proving to be a big hit with triathletes and long distance runners.

It's hard to box the Zigtech in a specific category. It's funky design could easily quailify it as a fashion shoe, like Nike Shox. But the technical genius of the shoe means that unlike others pretending to be running shoes. This shoe outperforms most running shoes. The shoe has even been chosen by former Comrades Marathon gold medalists as their new shoe of choice for competitive running.

The offering for runners is still limited with only a neutral style available. But with such a good response from consumers one has to feel that a wider range of shoes will come out next season. With some stability styles catering for runners who over pronate.

It may just be the start of a new era for Reebok in the running category. Allowing them to take on running brands like Asics, Nike and New Balance which have the lions share of the running market.

The ZigTech range can be viewed online at Reebok Store and is available for delivery free of charge in South Africa.
