Rift Valley Festival at The Fisherman's Camp Where Music and Art Will Come Alive

The Rift Valley Festival held at the Fisherman's Camp on the shores of Lake Naivasha is an event that presents a mix of local and international musicians and DJs where established artistes perform alongside developing talent. This year's event happens on 26th March all the way to 28th. Besides great music, there will be lots of crafts and artworks from local artisans.

This is all done to raise awareness and money to support environmental improvement alongside giving local communities an opportunity to better their lives. All profits from ticket sales will go directly towards supporting local community projects.

The festival is the brainchild of two brothers Sean and Ivan Ross from the UK with a long background in event promotion back in their home country. According to their website (www.riftvalleyfestival.com) the idea of a festival was a perfect means to celebrate on an international stage the richness of East African culture and music as well as promote the unity and beauty of Kenya, while helping local community projects.

It does not take someone long to feel the energy within these two guys as they go about raising money for charitable work in Naivasha but the most out of the box' idea they are working on now involves the promotion and distribution of a recycled cooking fuel called Moto poa' (a mix of local slang and Swahili which means cool fire) which they claim will go a long way towards limiting the use of charcoal hence helping to preserve Kenya's fragile forests (did you know Karura forest is now a tourist attraction? Read the full story here)

Tickets for the event will vary from day to day but generally the price will range between Kshs 500 per person per day for the early birds (just for your information, that offer closed on the 5th of this month) to Kshs 800. There are discounts (between Kshs 100 and Kshs. 200 for those who buy a two-day ticket) though. To buy a ticket you can either use PayPal (check their website for details) or call 0044 (0)7773 393 064 in the UK or +254715050588 in Kenya. Plan to be there!
