There aren't many materials that are as versatile and as widely used as acrylic. Acrylic is used in so many things today around the world. It is due to its versatile and unique properties that allows it to be used in so many things around the world today.
It is often chosen as an alternative to glass, acrylic is very easily shaped, if it becomes scratched or damaged then it can easily be reheated and put back into shape this is great to keep things looking new.
Acrylic is used in medicine a lot, it is used in bone operations where bone is replaced or fixed with the acrylic. Acrylic was first found to be useful in medicine during the war. Some pilots in the war were found to have shattered glass and acrylic in their eyes from plane crashes and so on. What was important during this discovery was the difference between the pilots who had acrylic in their eyes and the pilots who had glass. The pilots' eyes that contained glass became infected most of the time and tried hard to reject the material. However the pilots' eyes with the acrylic in didn't become infected and didn't try to reject the acrylic as much. Of course this was a massive discovery for medicine purposes and is probably the reason why acrylic is so widely used today in medicine.
Acrylic however isn't only used in medicine, it is used in many industries such as leisure, business, entertainment and much more. Acrylic is a popular choice in large aquariums it is used as a display window, acrylic is a much more transparent material compared to glass so displays can be made thicker and visibility can still remain good.
Acrylic is used in entertainment, normally acrylic domes are used to display colours, pictures or even text, these domes display images and everything else very clearly which is brilliant for entertainment purposes. Acrylic domes are also used in business, when it comes to business functions and presentations for example then they are used to display information, logos, colours, ideas, designs and so on.
