At the original site : www.rosariobarquin.com, we can see, not only the painter's work, but also we can get to know about art news, events and very interesting propositions.
Rosario Barquin, Spanish, but born in Mexico, has a Bachelor's Degree in American Anthropology from the Complutense University of Madrid, that is why her interest for the knowledge of human society is deeply present in her work.
She has also a Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Maryland, that is why she has been able to design her site that she keeps and continuously updates.
Rosario Barquin is a Painter with a great sense of humour. The colours are bright but at the same time they are soft, worked and combined with mastery. Open spaces, floating, with some fantasy but always hooked to reality.
Her pictures talk about a lively and critical look at the near and global worlds that surround her. (" Steady hand in a velvet glove "?).
It catches ones attention to notice how she manages to translate, at the same time, a particular and a general, a delicate and a sharp comment. Over all I like the pictures in which characters appear, because since they are painted in a very personal way they are acidic and enjoyable.
She has told us that the source of her inspiration are the people, the people that she sees on the street, around her house, people close by that she observes with tenderness and humour.
Rosario Barquin navigates between Surrealism and Abstraction. She switches from acrylics, for bigger formats, to light watercolours for more subtle and spontaneous results. But without disregard to something that she deeply enjoys: digital design.
Last month she made a funny raffle between the twenty first people that wrote her telling her which picture of her site they loved most. She raffled three drawings. She told us that this experience has been very interesting that she really enjoyed knowing which were the most popular pictures of her site, and She is thinking about repeating the experience one more time.
