Working In A Small Company VsWorking In A Small Company Vs. A Big Company

Working in a small company is very much different from working in a big company. The environment, the level of growth, the level of competition, corporate politics, size of the organisation, amount learnt, number of collegues and bosses, perks and work load is totally different from that in a smaller firm. Here in this article we will talk about the pros and cons of working in a small company as opposed to working in big company.

A small company usually has only one or two bosses. Generally you have to report to only one person. This minuses any trace of complexity or confusion at work. It makes the working hierarchy simple and easy to understand, because you have to follow only one person. However this is not the case in big companies. In big companies, there are many people who will be superior to you. Each of them will have a different method of working and a different temperament to match with. Even if you have understood one person's method of working, it is not enough to adapt to every other superior. You have to work in such a way that you satisfy all the people who are above you in rank. However, big offices offer more growth opportunities than smaller companies. The perks offered and the salary paid also tends to be more. But longer working hours, cut-throat competition, intolerable politics and a stressful life are the inhuman job conditions that brings you an alluring remuneration. In smaller companies, on the other hand, people tend to work like a closely knit family. The amount of politics taking place is also much lesser. The good part about big companies in the name that comes tagging along. An association with a big company itself makes quiet an impression. The amount of things that you will learn by working in a big company, rarely a small company will be able to teach you. In big companies, you get to come accross several influential people, and hence it opens doors to various opportunity. You may not always find this in smaller companies. However smaller companies serve as a great base for new-comers, who are totally oblivious to the corporate world. It helps them to learn more about office environment in a very gentle and non-stressful manner.
