These are clairaudience and clairsentience. Clairaudience is very similar to clairvoyance but instead of "seeing" the object or image, the person hears an internal voice directing them. The clairsentience senses the energy around them and in different energies. In other words, they feel a sense of the object or future.
No matter what the skill, the first step is to pay attention to the feelings, sounds and visions you experience. While all of them require focus, you'll only destroy the potential if you attempt to force yourself to have an experience using them. Have you ever had a gut feeling to get out of an area because of danger? That was clairsentience working for you. That little voice in your head that told you the sales clerk was deceitful was clairaudience and picturing the room you enter before you arrive somewhere is clairvoyance. Paying attention to what the mind tells you and the feelings right before you experience it is 90 percent of the battle.
Learning to meditate and quiet your mind is one way to develop the focus necessary for clairvoyance. In Eastern cultures, the power to quiet the mind has always been through meditation and the clairvoyance came through vision in the third eye, the area in the centre of your forehead between and slightly above your eyes.
Begin by sitting in a comfortable position in a quiet room. Before you begin practicing clairvoyance, you need to find your area of the mind's eye or the screen in your head where the images reflect. While sitting in a comfortable position, focus on a pleasant memory from the day before. Investigate closely what it looked like and all the surroundings. You'll note you created a picture in your head. This picture or image is on a screen that is your mind's eye. Once you know where to look, you can begin to explore further.
Each time you go to your quiet place, sitting comfortably and relaxed, you'll pull up the inner screen to your mind's eye. Sometimes it helps if you visualize the third eye and watch the area of vision expanding. You might see colours or shapes on the screen. Just watch them and make no judgments. All you're doing now is flexing the clairvoyant "muscles" and preparing your mind.
Sit quietly daily and watch the colours and shapes that appear. Eventually, you'll begin to see pictures that you'll later identify as clairvoyant experiences. In the first steps, you're only making yourself aware of the potential and the "third eye" that controls the clairvoyant skill.
You can advance your studies by working with friends. While you relax and focus, have a friend go to another room and find an object to hold and focus upon. Look into your mental screen to see if you see the friend holding object or see the object itself. With a little practice, you'll soon be able to do so.
Through this type of practice, when you do have flashes of vision about an event or person, you'll be able to recognize them as clairvoyance and not imagination. The biggest problem with most psychic abilities is being able to differentiate between the two.
