My sister just received the results of her DNA genealogical test. She is 60 percent African, 30 percent European and 9 percent Asian (Japanese & Chinese). The first two percentages are not surprising because most, if not all, Black people in America, due to forced miscegenation practiced during slavery, will have European ancestry.
My curiosity was piqued, however, by the Asian roots and the omission of American Indian ancestry that I knew was in our background. In fact, we were always told that my maternal great-grandfather was, "right off the reservation and looked just like the Indian on the nickel, hook nose and all."
My first impression during my earliest trip to China waswhoa! --They look like American Indians. Now, I grew up around Chinese and Japanese people and I never considered them to look like Native Americans, but it was striking how the Chinese in China looked like the Indians in America. I told one of our guides about this and he told me that he had heard about the immigration of his ancestors over the Bering Straits into the Americas and beyond. It would appear that the American Indians are descendants of Asia and maybe that explains the 9 percent Japanese/Chinese results.
There exists strong evidence that the Chinese sailed to the east coast of America before Columbus. Purported to be found buried on Cherokee land was a 600 year old Ming Dynasty medallion. Could it be pure coincidence that both the Chinese and Cherokee use a similar sounding name to describe their clay pottery? It is also becoming clear that the Chinese traveled to Africa during their circumnavigation. In the area of Kenya there are tribes that are "Asian-looking." Perhaps, this explains the 9 percent Asian DNA.
The clearest evidence, bar none, presented to me for a Chinese and Black kinship can be summed up with two letters"CP" time. That is to say, Colored People time--or is it? This is a well-known phrase used by Black people of my generation to explain a propensity for tardiness. This can apply to functions that start late or people who arrive late, a catchall excuse if you will.
When I was in Taiwan, I was invited to an event that was to start at a certain time. When that time arrived the guest had yet to make an appearance. The hostess looked at me and told me that the invited guests were on CP time. I was slack-jawed when I heard what she said. I asked what she meant by that, she then told me this was something the Chinese use as a catchall excuse for being late. She further stated that CP time stood for Chinese People time.
Need I say more? The more different we are the more we are the same.
Google "Chinese DNA has African" and view the Youtube video. Contrary to popular belief the great majority of African Americans have no genetic markers for American Indian ancestry.
