Gary Lang Auto Group was recently awarded the number one automotive dealer in McHenry County for 2010. This award goes to dealers who sell the most new and used vehicles for the year. In 2010, Gary Lang sold more new and used vehicle to McHenry County residents than any other dealer. History
Gary Lang has been serving McHenry for almost 28 years. Gary started in the automotive industry in 70's working part time in sales and worked his way up to General Manager. He decided to purchase a Chevrolet dealership in McHenry in 1983, which was only selling five to ten cars a month. He turned it around and sold 40 cars his first month as an owner. A Subaru dealership in McHenry became available in 1988, and Gary thought it would be a great opportunity. Then two years later, the Pontiac and Cadillac franchises were available down the street. It became difficult operating in three buildings and he wanted one large facility for one stop automotive shopping. The current building opened in 1995. In 2004, Gary acquired the Buick and GMC brands; in 2007, he purchased Kia; and in 2009, Mitsubishi's were available at Gary Lang.

Gary Lang has now outgrown its current building and is in the process of constructing a new showroom and service center just south of the existing location. It is expected to open in April 2011 and will create 30 to 50 new jobs for McHenry County. The new building will house the Subaru, Kia, Mitsubishi and Mahindra brands. It will feature a car wash, state of the art service facility, and many other features.
