When getting estimates on your parkinglots there is much to consider. In many cases there are huge price differnences between paving contractors. Usually this is becausestheirwas nocomunication between the contractor and the customer. Like if you were droping off an estimate and no one was there tomeet you. This will be the begining of price confusion and lack of information from both partys. Nowthe contractor writes the proposal as cheap as possible in hopes to aquire the work. Not knowing what kind of job the customer really needs.

To find out what kind of job the customer needs done there has to be questions. One questionthat should be askedis, how manycars and trucks use the parkinglot daily. Another i would ask would be are there delivery trucks that use your parkinglot daily and if so how many. These are just a few questions that need to be askedin order togive the customer the wrightjob. Informationthat i get from the customertells me thejobs specific needs.Example, 4 inchs of gravel and 2.5 inchs of asphalt would work in some big parking lots to keep the cost down.But if this isnt the wrightjob for you will spend more than you have too.

There are many times when a customer will get 4 inchs of gravel and 2.5 inchs of asphalt put in there parking lot. Within a few years itstarts developing cracks, low spots, and holes. This is happening because you have a parking lot that has high traffic volume. Also delivery trucks in and out all day 5 days a week.Now theonly way to fix the parking lot you just got pavedbefore it all falls apart is to reserface. In order to reserface the lot there must be 2.5 inchs of top course asphalt paved over the entire lot.But if the information was avaliable this could have been avoided. You would have knownthe jobneeded 4 inchs of I-2 binder base asphalt than 2.5 inchs of I-5 top course. The diffrence between the job you needed and the job you got was the 4 inch base price. The gravel will work for lower traffic jobs but not for higher volumes of traffic.
