Apple Computers, Inc. is a company that is growing rapidly. Their products, like MacBooks, iPods, iPhones, and Apple TV are becoming more and more common place. Apple products are based off one key idea. User experience is the key design focus. This means that if anything compromises the user experience it has to go. This may sound good at first glance, but if you are the type of person who wants the computer to be and do the things you want to do, not just exactly what Steve Jobs had in mind then you are going to have difficulties with a Mac or iPhone.

On a Windows machine you could buy the graphics card and then get a cheaper processor until you can afford to upgrade, which you can do at anytime.
The second main area where users lack freedom is software. On iPhones and in its browser Safari, only apps and widgets that are approved by Apple can be added. Apple lovers will state that Apple doesn't allow porn as a justification for such limitations. But Apple doesn't block pornographic websites so whats the point, you or your kids can still stumble across stuff you don't want to see. A couple examples of other Apps that have been denied by Apple, for no stated reason, is the Google Voice and Google Places apps. When you get down to the nuts and bolts Apple didn't want competition on its own devices, so it said no.
The third reason, and less about the company itself and more about people like me. Is that because Apple computers are sooooo "cool" they supremely clash with my sense of cool. I would rather be caught naked in a snow storm in a glass box for everyone to see then be caught shopping for a MacBook Pro. I dislike the hipster image they have and "Windows is so hard to use" bologna that the silly Mac lovers are saying.
What started with facts and freedom of choice has degenerated into a "I can't stand Apple" emotional fight. And in the interest of full disclosure I have an iPhone 3G and have had it for 3 years. The only reason I still have it is that I'm in school and too poor to afford a new Google Nexus S. So to cope with my limited freedom on the iPhone, mine is of course Jailbroken and Unlocked so I can use T-Mobile without a data plan.
