La Janda Colegio de Espaol, is a Spanish language school based in the beautiful white town of Vejer de la Frontera. The school of La Janda, is situated in a beautiful old patio house in the hilltop town of Vejer. It affords beautiful views of the countryside around Vejer, and provides you with a real sense of history. Vejer, situated 200m above the surrounding countryside, offers spectacular views from all angles. It provides visitors with an insight in to what many Andalucian towns were like during the five centuries of Islamic occupation, demonstrating the convergence of these 2 cultures with its narrow winding streets and patio houses. It was declared a national monument in 1978. However Vejer, has more than many other white hilltop towns in that it also benefits from being only 11kms from the beautiful unspoilt beaches of the Costa de Luz, El Palmar the beach of Vejer, remains one of the last remaining virgin beaches in Spain. Vejer is an ideal base to explore the area. Allowing us to visit a variety of other cities in Andalusia and Morocco including Seville only 2 hours away, Cadiz one hour and may other white towns nearby including Arcos de La Frontera, Medina Sidonia and the fascinating city of Jerez de la Frontera home of sherry. Other popular activities in the area include kite surfing, surfing, wind surfing, golf, horse riding, open water diving, hiking in natural reserves or just sunbathing on quiet sandy beaches are just some of the examples of extras which complete the learning experience.
The school offers more than just Spanish lessons but an authentic Spanish experience with many cultural activities outside of the classroom. Due to its size, our school offers its students a close, direct and personalised contact, both in and out of the classroom. The school have recently organised a number of combined courses and are looking forward to helping to promote this beautiful region through working in conjunction with partners such as Annie Bs Spanish Kitchen, a local cookery school which promotes the delicious delights of the region. As well as running walking and Spanish holidays which includes six guided tours around the Costa de La Luz and inland areas, Vejer is ideally suited to reach a number of Natural Park including the Alcornales and. Other combined courses include Spanish and surf, make the most of the great waves by working with a local surf school and a local riding school both based on one, where people can live out their dreams of galloping along a deserted beach! All this should assist in making learning Spanish even more enjoyable!
