The big three Japanese car manufacturers have all been busy producing hybrid and electric cars to help save on fuel costs and the environment. Nissan has also been researching ways to make its traditional petrol engines more efficient, it has now announced the new Micra DIG-S which produces just 95grams of CO2 per kilometre.Nissan has also been researching ways to make its traditional petrol engines more efficient, it has now announced the new Micra DIG-S which produces just 95grams of CO2 per kilometre.
The Micra DIG-S uses a direct injection engine mated to a supercharger which means it has tantalising performance, good fuel efficiency and exceptionally low emissions. It has been designed to meet and exceed the everyday driving demands of the modern world and is the ideal partner for the Nissan Qashqai in Cardiff, Nissan's small city crossover car.
The DIG-S engine outputs 72kW (98PS) and 142Nm, while CO2 emissions are just 95g/km for the manual version and 115 g/km for the CVT version. The DIG-S has a maximum speed of 112mph for the manual model. Combined cycle fuel economy figures for the manual Visia version is 68.9mpg.The DIG-S engine outputs 72kW (98PS) and 142Nm, while CO2 emissions are just 95g/km for the manual version and 115 g/km for the CVT version. Pierre Loing, Vice President Product Strategy and Planning, Nissan International SA said about the DIG-S, "Ultra low emissions with no compromise when it comes to drivability means the Micra DIG-S sets new standards for the current generation of city cars. No other petrol-powered compact hatchback can beat its overall efficiency... and it is more than a match for an equivalent diesel" Further savings can be made by buying a DIG-S for UK customers, due to its low CO2 output levels it
is exempt from road fund tax license and the central London congestion charge, on their own that is a saving of over 2,500 a year.
