The HTC Legend is the latest offering from the manufacturer who brought us the highly acclaimed Hero. But with a predecessor to live up to, the Legend does manage this, or prove a disappointment. The answer is the former, the Legend is a wonderful device.
With a strong 600 MHz processor, the first thing that strikes me about the phone is how easily it is to be used. Everything seems fluid, transitions between menus are quick and apps seem to load very quickly. A common complaint with many Android handsets is that when multiple operations are carried out that overall performance slows considerably but there seems no problems with the Legend. Internet usage is also a delight, offering 3G, EDGE and WiFi connectivity, the browser looks fast and has a magnifier to easily copy text, a feature iPhone users are familiar with, as they will with the excellent pinch zoom and multi-touch technology is also recommended.
The Legend own user interface feature called the HTC "Sense". Good use of the phone a fun and easy task, as well as making the display look very slick as well. It offers the user a choice of seven home screens and features a large number of neat little details. For example the clock display indicate a Weather Display that matches the weather where you are with your mobile phone signal. There is also a feature that will prove hugely popular with social networking fans, called "Friend Stream". Allows you to log into Facebook, Twitter and Flickr and see all the status updates in a continuous stream.
There is plenty to keep fans happy on the multimedia HTC. With a microSD card slot included a massive 32GB memory can be used (with the extra card). This provides a range of audio and video files can be saved, and most formats are supported including MP3, WAV and WMA audio and WMV and MP4 video. A 3.5mm stereo jack is always welcome, meaning that users own choice of headphones can be used to enjoy these files. An AMOLED 3.2 "screen produces great images and provides a good quality resolution of 320 x 480 pixels.
The Legend is the most impressive HTC Android device to date. The fact that the flash files means that it supports a very real alternative to the i phone. The speed of the Legend with stunning looks, thanks to the metal casing, this looks like a very worthy successor to the excellent Hero.
