The ideal way to clean copper sink is use a mild detergent and normal water. Harsh chemicals could damage the surface and always use a soft sponge or cloth to scrub the surface. To protect the luster; applying wax is the most effective idea.

Prolong exposure to hard water could damage the sink. With time the calcium buildups are formed over the fixtures. To avoid this; it is a good idea to keep the sink dry by wiping off the extra water droplets with a soft cloth after each use. Again applying wax could solve the problem easily. It is not advisable to use copper cleaner which is harsh and could built up scratches over the surface. The copper cleaners can be at times abrasive.

Do not leave the leftover acidic food inside the sink for long time which reacts with the metal and could ruin your sink. If a spot on surface of the sink shines unusually then it could probably be due to acid contact. If that is the case; clean the area with water first and apply mild detergent and rinse with running water. Open the water tap open while working with acidic foods to avoid reaction.

It is tough to upkeep the shiny finish on custom copper sink. For such sinks; it is ideal to use a copper cream to clean and buff the surface. Follow up with wax coating to protect the shine and prevent certain environmental reaction.
