Security News
CCTV equipment has come a long way from 10 years ago, gone are the day's of bulky 24hr and 960hr Time lapse VCR's with poor image quality recording, and black and white camera's. Today installer's are demanding aesthetically pleasing, high performance, and a competitively priced equipment to compete in today's economical climate. Brands like Samsung,Dedicated Micros, Bosch Security and Genie are leading the way.
Samsung have their SMT Range of Monitors which has been designed to be more energy efficient, as well as offering a resolution of up to 1280 x 1024, VGA and BNC input, and a contrast ratio of 1000:1, the display is enhanced by the use of a tempered glass screen.
Dedicated Micros have launched their new Ecosense Range, which has the same quality feel we are used to from D.M, the Ecosense comes with a stylish touch sensitive front panel, simultaneous playback and viewing and telemetry control.
Genie's New Rapport II Pro Multi-Functional CCTV Tester, this unit has everything a professional installer needs, it comes with 3.5" LCD Colour Monitor, PTZ Controller,UTP Cable Tester and a Built in DVR and 1Gb SD Card.
Alsoover the years the advance's in technology mean there are more choices, and choosingthe correct camera can be crucial, these are just a few types of camera options:
Internal, external, fully functional vandal resistant, vandal resistant with Infra Red, also you could choose a bodied camera and lens, with either a internal bracket or outdoor housing, then you have covert camera's.
Questions you need to ask yourself, when looking for a CCTV Camera
Do I need to mount my camera Internally or Externally?
What distance do I need to cover?
What type of lens do I need?
Is there adequate lighting?
If the camera is mounted outside, do I need a Vandal Resistant Camera?
Will the camera be used as a visual deterrent, or a discreet camera?
What budget do I have?
What resolution?
Internal Camera's
It's important when choosing an internal camera, to look at the specification of the camera, for instance if your camera is looking at a door that receives a lot of sun light but the rest of the image is dark you might need to choose a camera with Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) or with Back Light Compensation (BLC), as well as what type of lens, the lower the lens size the wider the coverage, so a fixed lens might be suitable. Internal domes are usually cheaper as they don't need to be weather proof.
External Camera's
When choosing an external camera, you need to look at the lighting, if there's poor lighting you may need to look at camera with infra red maybe a bullet type camera or a vandal resistant dome with LED's, or a camera with very low Lux Levels, also if you need to cover several positions a fully functional dome might suit the application better, this camera can cut down on installation cost's
These are just a few CCTV products and the decisions we know face when designing a Security systemshowing that technology has progressed, and that you can get high end security equipment for any application, that's economical, environmentally friendly and cutting edge.
