EARTHQUAKES:IS THE END OF THE WORLD HERE?
Much has been said on the life span of the earth. Some argue that it is world without end while others claim that the earth in its present form will actually fade away and a new earth created.
It was in 1975 or so that it was rumored that the world would soon come to an end. For instance, in Nigeria where I was born and presently lives, many young men jettisoned their education then, claiming that if the prediction that the world will come to an end that year was right, there was no need continuing their education. This led to many drop outs then, although many of them went back to school when the year rolled by without the earth fading away. Don't ask me but suffice to say that a religious group with a knack for evangelism was said to have been the brain behind the fearful prediction .
All that now is history,as the world has witnessed unprecedented technological breakthroughs and other forms of developments since then.
But with the recent outburst of natural disasters, especially since 2004 when the Asia Tsunami sent many people to their early grave, one should think that the time is now ripe for more people to engage in this debate of world without end or world with end.
The debate will however not be complete if the origin of the earth is not properly understood and appreciated.
I have read several literatures and religious books of different shades of opinions on how the world actually began. While Darwin ascribed it to evolution, other schools of thought believe that the world is too complex and sophisticated for man to leave its origin to the chance of evolution.
Of all the books I have read however, only the Bible made bold to say that it is Jehovah, the God of Abraham and of the Israelites who is being worshiped by Christians that actually created the world.
Moreover, God Almighty, the creator of the heavens and the earth actually declared in the book of Isaiah in the Bible that beside Him, there is no other God. It was also clearly stated in the book of Genesis that "in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth".
So, if we agree with the account of the Bible and I think that is the best decision to take, then we must also agree that since God is the creator of the heavens and the earth, He is the only one that has the power to end the world or not.
Nobody has seen God but people have experienced Him one way or the other. Just like the air cannot be handled yet we experience it, nobody has seen God yet we feel Him every day. So, men have always lived with multifaceted question of who is God, where does Him live and who created Him?
But somebody came into this world more than 2000 years ago and authoritatively declared that He has seen God and that He actually came from Him. This person is Jesus-the Messiah.
In fact, Jesus Christ made it clear that no one has ascended to heaven except He who came from heaven referring to Himself. He also said that it was what He saw the Father do that he did when referring to the miracles he performedRef-John 5:19. So, He actually left the Father in heaven and came to earth to carry out the mission He fulfilled.
Therefore, since Jesus Christ was able to prove all He claimed, He established what I call the Christian theory of power and love. In reality,nobody has succeeded in disproving all that Jesus Christ said and did while He was on earth and even now.
So, if we agree that Jesus Christ is the only person who authoritatively declared His son-ship to God and proved it, then we can benefit a lot from what He said on the end of the world and the signs that will precede it.
Jesus said when His disciples asked Him what will be the signs of His coming and the end of the age that some of the signs ares that "nations will rise against nations, and kingdoms will rise against Kingdoms." He also said that there will be" famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places."..Ref-Matthew 24:7.
Based on these prophesies therefore, every human being should begin to review their lives whether they are prepared for this end time or not, because famines, pestilences and earthquakes are already here.
It is no news that the world is still struggling to overcome the economic down turn that hit the world recently, while the earth is also quaking from Asia, Haiti and most recently Japan
God made it clear in the revelations He gave me which I documented in a book titled WHY CRISIS AND EVIL which is currently in the world market that He created evil to ensure justice in His creation so perhaps
Is the end here? Let us think and repent from our sins for God is so merciful and He is ready to accept as many that come to Him through Jesus Christ. A word is enough for the wise.
