The beautiful island of Boracay in Philippines has a tropical climate with an average temperature around 30 degrees Celsius (88 Fahrenheit) and humidity of 75 percent. Boracay experiences two distinct seasons the dry season and the rainy season. Daytime temperatures in Boracay generally range from 25-32 Celsius from the beginning of the dry season in February or March, and increase to around 28-38 Celsius with the onset of the rainy season. The dry season lasts for seven months from November until May and is known as Amihan.
This season characterized by moderate temperatures, scanty rainfall, and a prevailing wind from the east. December is one of the coolest periods with day time temperatures of 30 Celsius and dropping even lower in evenings and early mornings. April and May are usually the hottest months of the year, when mid-day temperatures can reach 39 Celsius (102 Fahrenheit). During the dry season the White Beach remain calm, and is ideal for swimming. The other side of the island experiences large winds and waves making it suitable for wind surfing, wave running, etc.
Though hot, this season sees the maximum number of tourists come in and the Hotels in Boracay hotels in Boracay remain full. The rainy season begins around June and ends in late October and is locally known as Habagat. This season is characterized by hot and humid weather, frequent heavy rainfall, and a prevailing wind from the west. During this season, not many tourists come in and there is usually a risk of tropical storms and typhoons. June and July are basically off-season months in Boracay. During this time, the island remains relatively quiet and peaceful and the Boracay hotel rates are at their cheapest during this time. Boracay's weather tends to dictate the travel agenda for visitors. The high season is in the dry months.
During this time accommodation is harder to get in this period, more expensive and the island is busier. A better time to travel therefore is often outside the peaks periods. Rain showers tend to be very heavy but are short in duration, and are often at night or mornings, leaving most of the day for getting around.
The dry season sees visitors mostly concentrated on white beach and the opposing Bulabog beach which has a very large international sporting reputation for kite-boarding and wind-surfing. During the peak season, the winds come from the other side of the island, and White Beach is protected. The wind blows out to sea, leaving the beach pristinely clean and generally calm. It is also the winter season in the northern hemisphere, and tourists come in numbers in search of sun, heat, beach and party. High season starts in October and ends in May.
