I Got My Mojo Back
I Got My Mojo Back

I'll be the first to admit that it really rocked me to the core and I was bothered by the turn of events. It caused me to take a good long look at where I am. I had lost "something", but I didn't know what. It wasn't that long ago that I was getting pretty much everything that I wanted, so what the heck happened.

I had fallen into the trap and I was in it for over a year.

It's like weight gain, you know. You don't think that eating one little thing or missing one day at the gym will make a difference and in a week's time, it may not, but when you add it up over the course of a year or so, you are sporting a Buddha-belly and feeling tired. My way of doing things had been dropping off little by little for over a year and I had become less and less of the person I was meant to be.

I had to look back at what I'd done and compare it to what I am doing now. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, I lost my ability to visualize, to imagine the end and I was only concentrating on the "steps."

Yes, it sounds rather metaphysical and I make no apologies about it at all. When I was doing what I was doing, everything came out of the woodwork to get me what I wanted. Yep, you guessed it, the whole law of attraction thing (let the eyebrows raise.) Now, I'm not a Bob Proctor disciple and I don't have posters of "The Secret" wallpapering the inside of my house, but I will give you examples of what I did and the results.

1. The Feather

In my first attempt at this mumbo-jumbo, I did the whole "envision" thing and the follow through of being surprised when I received a feather. Feathers are not uncommon around Missouri, but I'm not that outdoorsy, so the chance of me finding one was quite remote. One day, after I did the dealieo, a co-worker of mine, who was the custodian at the library, lost a feather off his duster, walked over to me and handed it to me with a pleasant "here ya' go sir." I know,..I didn't believe it either, so I repeated the experiment again and not more than a couple of weeks later, my wife and I were walking through Crowder State Park and I literally stepped in a fluffy pile of feathers. Ok, now I'm listening.

2. The Gig

For the longest time, I had wanted to sing the solo Tenor part in Handle's "Messiah." I had practiced on my own for years and I could see myself (1st person) on stage doing the music. Out of the blue, I got a call from the Nodaway Choral out of Maryville, MO and they needed a soloist. Their planned tenor took ill and the Soprano soloist and I attended the same college and she dropped my name. Needless to say, my vision came true.

3. The Check

OK, so the first two things seemed like coincidence right, so let's put this thing to the test and as money is a big thing for me, I was going to ask for it. I had downloaded a faux check from "The Secret" website. The point,..you write down the amount you want and believe that you are going to get it, so I printed it out and wrote down $10,000.00. For me, this seemed like an impossible thing, but within a month of doing this silly act, a patron at the library where I worked had passed away. She thought a lot of me and left the one-man technology department a ten-thousand donation for me to spend as I saw fit to help the library. OK, not exactly to me, but that exact sum came specifically in my direction.

4. My Wife

I saved the best for last.

One evening, while I was single, I was walking the trail around the high school in Trenton. Something inside me sort of "let loose" while I was taking my evening constitutional. I was single for over a decade and quite happy, but all of a sudden, I was ready to have someone in my life, so I spoke aloud my list of qualities that I wanted to find in my perfect mate. She would be older than me, have a quirky sense of humor, a teacher (preferred music teacher), be involved in music as much as I am, down to earth, and have haunting eyes. Within several months, all the things that tied her to a certain person were released and the rest is history...all qualities met.

When I did all the law of attraction stuff, everything that I wanted came to pass. Over the course of the last year, I've lost that, so guess what, I'm using what worked.

Business men / women, preachers, athletes and other people of high success use the whole envision approach. They didn't concentrate on the "steps", but concentrated on their vision of the end. What I've been doing wrong over the course of a year and a half is trying to figure out the steps I needed to take to get me where I wanted to be when I should have focused on where I wanted to be and letting the rest take care of itself.

So, here I am, and I'm a dreamin'.

No, I won't be sitting on my blessed assurance and just envisioning, but I will block off time every day where I will use the playground of my imagination to create my dream world and when opportunities come, I won't be afraid to take hold and ride the wave.

After being fired from my job of over 5 years and at the height of the bad economy, I said "enough is enough!" I started on my consulting career that very same day...two days before my birthday, I might add. I vowed to myself, "I will never work outside my talents again and I want to empower people to take charge of their money and business" and out of that came Desire a Difference.
