Can You get Headaches By Working Out?
Not only can you get headaches by working out, but a great many people do. I simple Google search on this subject will yield about one and a quarter million results. So if you get headaches from exercising you are not alone.
We all realize that exercising and shedding pounds go together like two peas in a pod.. No matter what anyone else attempts to tell you, it is not feasible to lose weight without being active. What not a many people understand, however, is that from time to time working out can literally be a pain. I'm not talking about muscle aches and backaches and joint soreness. I'm talking about the pain of exercise induced headache.
Most people put up with workout induced headaches. But there are tons of things that can be done to treat them and keep from getting them again. Here are a few tips.
Drink a lot of water. Drinking water on a regular basis is important. However, it becomes even more important when you work out. Headaches are often caused by dehydration and dehydration can manifest after a workout that has been successful and sweaty (sweat drains the body of fluid). Drinking a good amount of water before, during and after your training can do quite a lot to help you prevent the onset of a headache after your workout. It is often all you need to do to take care of any headaches that turn up post training as well.
Make sure you do an intensive warm up and cool down. Just starting up a workout can zap your system, causing blood to start rushing to the places you are working out, which takes it away from your brain and that can lead to the onset of a headache. When you complete an intensive warm up, your body will be able to steadily improve the blood flow to the areas that need it and then redistribute it back during your cool down which gives the brain time to alter to the flow changes.
Breathe properly during your heavy exercising and weight lifting. Our brains need oxygen to survive and function properly. People are prone to holding their breath if they do something that is difficult or strenuous (like the hard parts of your workout) and that slows the amount of oxygen that gets to your brain. By breathing properly, you will keep a regular flow of oxygen going to your brain and, hopefully, keep the headaches away.
If you discover that you are suffering from headaches regularly and nothing that you are trying is reducing them or helping you keep them away, it is time to talk to your doctor. Your health care provider might be able to identify something that you are doing wrong when you are training or something that may be amiss in your diet. It's probable that you might need to employ medication to keep the headaches away. Your doctor is able to support you in finding a way to keep on working out and losing weight without having to deal with the headaches.
You may want to start taking a good multi vitamin and mineral supplement. A deficiency of vitamins and/or minerals can cause headaches, as well as other problems. My family has found that a good drink for reducing headaches is Pau D'Arco tea.Nobody wants to have a headache. We do just about everything that we can think about to keep them from happening to us. The nice thing is that you don't need to simply suffer through them. So the answer to, "Can you get headaches by working out?" is yes. However, if you take the right precautions and have the right knowledge, you could completely avoid your headaches!
