Not all, but some movies do leave a mark inside. They touch upon something may be the sensitive part of ourselves, which we generally don't disclose to the outside world. Some movies make us laugh and others make us cry. The ones which make us laugh, at most times are forgotten, but the ones which make our heart swell, linger on the inside, like a well-made perfume. Of course, there are list of personal favourites, when it comes to these movies. However, this is a list that found consensus among majority of movie goers and is based on the rule of average.

Mrs. Doubtfire

A stand-up comedian struggles to keep his family together, by leading a double-life. He takes up the job of a nanny at his wife's house-hold, while working part-time as a janitor in a television studio, still cherishing dreams of having a successful comic career. Sally Field plays the successful wife/ mother and Robin Williams plays the actor & nanny. Kamal Hassan's Chachi 420, had an adopted screenplay borrowed by Mrs. Doubtfire's story idea.

Sleepless in Seattle

Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan are the two protagonists of the movie. Sam Baldwin plays an architect and a widower, whose professional and social life has started stagnating after his wife's death. His young son strikes upon the idea of calling up a late night radio show and describing his father's condition. One of the listener's happens to be recently engaged Anna Reid (Meg Ryan), who instantly takes a liking to Sam's voice and in the most unlikely circumstances they meet up. Directed by Nora Ephron the movie set the stage for love stories in years to come.

Saving Private Ryan

The context of storyline is set against the backdrop of the I-World War. The movie starts with the American invasion of the Normady coast, to wrest it out of German Control. A band of brave soldiers are then asked to abandon their priority task of taking on the Germans and focus on one man among the thousands of soldiers scattered all over Europe fighting the Germans. Saving Private Ryan is the moving story of Private James Private Ryan, and how the president himself orders the commanders on the field to bring back a solider from the battlefield. Since, his three other brothers have died fighting and he remains the sole survivor in the family. The task of communicating the death of all her children to a mother, could be to say the least is inhuman. This is the basic premise of the plot, brilliantly portrayed by an ensemble cast of Tom Hanks & Matt Damon among others. Directed by Steven Spielberg, it remains a master-stroke from the legendary director.

Patch Adams

A story of a doctor, who goes beyond conventional medical philosophy, and employs techniques to treat his patients with humour and compassion. It is said, that "Munnabhai MBBS" has drawn its story idea from this movie. Yet, with the unique techniques, things do not turn out the way, they are meant to be. Dr. Adams his asked step down from his post and he does it with his own humorous style. Directed by Tom Shadyac and enacted by Robin Williams the movie is a heart warming watch for a weekend evening.

You've Got Mail

It tells the story of two individuals who have never met, yet fall in love with each other, through their chat messages. In real life, they are competing owners of two book stores in the same locality. Finally, when know each other, with all that happened between them makes the climax worth watching again and again. Starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan this rom-com, connects to us at basic level, since the possibility of absolute strangers becoming best friends, lovers, partners always exists.
