Benefiting from current world unrest?
Benefiting from current world unrest?

Perhaps this was the Goal of the Afghani and Iraqi wars? This public discourse that has occurred through out the Middle East and North Africa. The cries of too much poverty and not enough goods. The attempts at uncorrupted democratic government where more rights are given to the people. More then likely however, it is simply an accident, but none the less, possibly the best thing that could happen to our struggling nation. If all goes well for the rebellions' and protesters then a vast new market will open up, perfect for a nation that is under producing. For a nation that has the ability and capacity to provide the goods wanted and needed for these countries to progress further. The question that remains, will it actually work out in our favor? Or will some other country sweep in and reap the benefits, assuming of course that the rebellions and protests actually change something in their respective countries.

Will our politicians and big business leaders mess this one up too though? Will they be the only ones to reap the benefits? Or shall the people actually get some of this monetary gain. Will our middle class reappear? Or will the rich continue to get richer as the rest of us hold on by our finger tips simply to live. These are important questions that I'm afraid no one has asked yet.

The what ifs in this situation are potentially very rewarding. For everyone. Is that where are Government is leading us? Or is it simply blind luck at this point. And what could be done to push it in a way that would benefit our nation? Because we all know that once these nations and their people are allowed more freedoms they will exercise that freedom. If they have jobs they will buy goods. We could easily provide those goods, but we have to play our cards right. We can't push too hard, like we have with Afghanistan and Iraq. We can not step on any more toes, and hope to profit from this. If we do, China will more then likely reap all the benefits, leaving us to collapse in on ourselves. Not unlike what we are doing now.

What happens however if we can dance this dance? Do we become one of the benefactors?

What can even be done to make this beneficial? We need to sit back. Watch carefully and wait till the perfect time to make a move. But what is the perfect move? We won't know until it happens. So we must be ready to step in at some point, and somehow manage to win the hearts of millions who hate us. This is what our politicians have left our economy with. Or at least, this is one of the choices we have to right our ship, and help others. But, we can not continue to be the sole benefactor. Benefits must be shared mutually. That's how you avoid being the Red Headed step child' of the world. Will we continue that terrible trend, or finally start being the Nation we should have been all along. A helping nation that doesn't use others for our own economic benefits only. We're all human, we have the potential and ability to help each other live better lives. Will we take the next step forward? Will our politicians realize just how huge this potential change could be, and not only for North Africa and the Middle East, but the rest of the World?
