subject: There Are "Lost" People In This World! [print this page] There Are "Lost" People In This World! There Are "Lost" People In This World!
There are lost people in the United States. And, the fact that Americans do not work together, magnifies the problem.
It seems that people who are wealthy, or those who are comfortable in life are not aware of the devastating fact that people are lost in a never, never land.
By that, I mean many people do not have any direction. And,most could end up as "homeless."
Education. Our educational system is not creative. Some of our students fall through cracks of our public school system. It is unfortunate, but there are people who can not read and/or write. How can this happen in our system? We spend more money on education than any country in the world.
Than there are those who can not survive our school system. Reasons: poor eyesight, poor health and those who get into trouble. Trouble makers are casted aside and forgotten. Teachers do not have time (or may not take time) to bother with these Huckleberry Finns.
Our schools do have special education teachers. And, maybe these special education students do not have problems like the students who are placed in Alternative schools.
I do not have a degree in psychology and I am not a Psychiatrist. But, many of our school students have psychogical problems. And, I wonder if and what tests are given to these students.
Our schools, teachers, principals and superintendents in Ohio brag about the high success percentage rate attained by its schools.
I question and am skeptical. And, I questions why schools are not open at night. If we can not afford night schools (like we had in 1940s/1950s).....why can we not open the doors. And, then we could let college students, retired teacher volunteer as teachers.
Synergism is not taught. What is wrong with older students tutoring young kids.
What is wrong with using speed volunteers. Ask a retired adult to spend one hour a week with a student.
I may be wrong, but if we track many people in our society, who have committed horrendous acts, there will be tell tale trais, in our schools, where those students ....walked through the school and personal behavior did not get attention.
During the last four years, I have observed men and women, from ages 18 to early sixties. These lost people had no self esteem (confidence) and had no ambition, no dreams, no expectations. Many have had drug, alcohol problems. The drug and alcohol treatment programs, if any ------did not work.
The mental health people received help. But, many rely on disability payments. These people could work. We have more young people on Medicaid, and social security disability than ever in history of United States.
How can we motivate people to work? My thought might be naive, but our schools, churches and parents could teach positive thinking skills to students.
First, there must be a belief system. If people do not have God (their God) in their lives then they must have some kind of belief system.
Second, there must be LOVE. If they do not love someone, and have someone love them, then I can understand why the are "lost." Family relations and a support system are necessary!
But,some family members can not withstand the drugs, alcohol....... and many problems relatives have. It is not impossible to re-bridge family relationships. But, it does not seem people want to try.
Compliments and encouragement could help. But, we are so concerned about our life, we do not work with others.
Do you know any "lost people?" How can you help them?
