Benzoyl Peroxide

When benzoyl peroxide combines with other antibiotics, it can also reduce the likelihood of a patient developing resistance to the antibiotic. Benzoyl peroxide also has side effects, if you first time using it. It is advisable to use benzoyl peroxide in small amount and lower concentration at first and let your skin tolerate it. Once tolerance is achieved, increasing the quantity or concentration a second time and gaining tolerance at a higher level usually gives better subsequent acne clearance. Benzoyl peroxide works as a peeling agent, increasing skin turnover and clearing pores, thus reducing the bacterial count there as well as directly as an antimicrobial.
Isotretinoin
Isotretinoin shows effective for severe cystic acne. Many dermatologists also support its use for treatment of lesser degrees of acne that prove resistant to other treatments, or that produce physical or psychological scarring. Isotretinoin often used to treat acne when other treatments does not show any result. To get the best result from this acne treatment usually begins with topical medications, followed by oral antibiotics (or a combination) and finally isotretinoin therapy. This is because other treatments, while less effective than isotretinoin, are thought to be associated with fewer adverse effects and lower cost.
