To Repair Or Not Repair Your Maytag Diswasher

Need to have your Maytag dishwasher repaired and not sure if you should or should you get a new one? First try troubleshooting the problem on your own using the manual that came with your dishwasher. If you happened to throw it away or misplaced the user manual, check Maytag's website which provides support for their dishwashers and you can also download the manual just by keying in model number of the appliance.

With the user's manual, Maytag provides a blueprint that lists out the part numbers that help make it convenient to order parts online if you decide to repair it yourself. If you don't have access to the Internet, you can call Maytag to have a copy of the user guide sent to you.

Nowadays there are many great resources available online that can assist you with finding the correct replacement parts and guides to assist you with repairing your Maytag dishwasher.

If you are noticing a leak from the door of your Maytag, inspect the lower spray arm for any any cracks as this will cause an issue with where the water is being sprayed. If the spray arm is cracked, replace it. Next, check the gasket on the soap door latch for any wear and tear as this can also cause water to leak inside the door panel.

When your Maytag dishwasher isn't filling up with water, remove the front access panel to gain access to fill valve. Refer to your owner's manual for the proper location, there are two flat pointed terminals at the top of the fill valve to touch the multimeter probes to and if you get a reading of 120 volts, the valve needs to be replaced. While in there, make sure the screen that between the valve and bracket make sure is clean of any debris.

Lastly, inspect the bottom of the dishwasher for a plastic disc with a round nipple in the middle to ensure isn't loose or broken off and if it is, you will need to have this replaced. What happens when this is broken off is it will float up during the washing stages and hit the wash impeller during the draining cycle causing the dishwater to make a loud grinding sound.
