Whether big or small, a move itself can be expensive. You want a good move for a good price.
Think budget: How much will this move cost?
How much a move will cost you depends on these factors: How much do you want to spend, the type of service transportation you will be using, the size of the truck, and the day of the week you plan to move.
In regards to the type of service transportation, there are three: Full service, mid service and self-service. Full service moving companies do the majority of the work. The only fingers you need to lift are on the hand you write with in order to label your new rooms according to where you want your belongings. Mid service moving companies drive and unload, but don't pack your items like full service moving companies do. Self-service moving companies are self-explanatory: You pack, load, unload and unpack your belongings. If you want to do all of it yourself, then a moving truck rental company is an option in which you do everything yourself, including sitting behind the wheel and driving to your new destination. If your move is going to be long, then it's important to calculate the number of days your move will take, the cost of gasoline, toll charges, meals and lodging, all of which are part of your budget.
Next, determine the size of the truck you need. The size needed depends on how many people are moving and the amount and size of objects to be moved. If you decide to move items on your own, use equipment like dollies and tie-down strapping to make the move easier. These are also good to use if you decide to move everything on your own. Why not load up on that minivan or car in the drive way to avoid having to rent a big truck?
Your budget will also be affected according to the day of your move, whether during the week or on a weekend. Weekends and the first week of each month are usually more expensive because of convenience. Try to pick a day that fits your time schedule but won't hurt your budget.
With every move, make sure you have a checklist ready so you don't forget anything.
No one wants a move to run up their credit card or to feel cheated because they decided to move. Why not start with a free quote?
