Wisdom Teeth refers to the four third molars, they complete the teeth structure consisting of thirty two teeth in the mouth. Wisdom Teeth start appearing by the age of seventeen though the process can continue up to the age of twenty five.

Since Wisdom tooth appear only when a person has reached full growth hence often their presence results to more troubles like disruption of a already formed jaw which ends up in harming the gums or the wisdom tooth may break midway through gums causing it to bleed which can lead to severe swelling ,pain and in extreme cases, infection.

The removal of Wisdom teeth has many advantages like it prevents the crowding of molars at the back of the jaw. The teeth can be cleaned easily and the probability of the infection is reduced.

The process of Wisdom tooth extraction is very simple and widespread. The authorized person to perform the operation is a tooth surgeon or an operating dentist. The gravity of operation depends on the number of teeth that are being removed. One should prefer a hospital if he or she is getting all the four tooth's removed. The duration for the operation generally lasts for a couple of hours. It begins with local anesthesia being injected to the affected area which makes the place numb and the patients are spared with the sensation of pain. Then the surgeon removes the bones and gum covering the tooth and breaks the tooth into small pieces for easy removal.

After the tooth is removed stitches are required to close the wounds. The number of stitches required varies from person to person. The recovery time is a couple of days after the surgery. The patient is kept on medication consisting of painkillers and antibiotics. Although it takes more than a week for the stitches to completely heal and the oral muscles to get stabilize. There are some methods to speed up the process like the mouth should be cleaned constantly after any meal; a warm cloth should be applied to the affected area to check for bleeding. The patient should be no a soft diet as it decreases the recovery time considerably.

Although the process is fairly simple but it also carries many aftereffects like difficulty in opening the jaw completely, also known as trismus or dry sockets which causes inflammation of the jaw and is very painful. It is advisable that the patients must gather information on them before coming for the surgery.
