Raymond Davis - the Western Face of Terrorism

While for the past decade, Muslims have been linked with terrorism, extremism and isms of all sorts, this has become more of a lump in the throat of the west to find a white associated with it!

Raymond Davis, a US gunslinger or call him a killer from the West, who took out' two Pakistanis in a very filmi style on a bustling Lahore street, has been making headlines lately not just in Pakistani media but in the foreign one as well.

Seeing Davis' name in newspapers or on news channels brings back flashes of a movie I once watched- The Bourne Trilogy. Matt Damon plays the lead in this suspense thriller. He is a titular and alias of CIA and happens to be extremely dangerous even when only wielding a folded magazine.

This forces one to think whether Raymond Davis' presence here is also a part of the US strategy for the so-called fight against terrorism. Or perhaps it has more to do with something extremely covert - like penetrating deeply into our country's social fabric to achieve her ends.

Whatever it is that US wants to accomplish with its clandestine activities, one thing has hit us in the face again. The fact that US will go to any extremes in securing its rapacious interests with blatant disregard to the diplomatic relations and international ethics.

This incident has also reinforced the perception that most of us believe to be reality that the use of force, covertly or overtly, marks as US prime strategy for getting things done their way. This tactic is not at all different from the ones used by notorious terrorists to post gains on their heinous motives. However the difference is that they do it openly and take credits for all of their doing.

One wonders if these CIA assets' are roaming around only on Pakistani streets or to say in Afghanistan as well. Or perhaps this is the US way of executing terrorist activities under the cover. And if the case is so, should we also wage a war against terror then?

Raymond Davis, the man who publicly murdered two Pakistanis in cold blood with a lame excuse of self-defense, not only represents the US or CIA but a seamy facet of the very champions of human rights the West.
