My son has been playing baseball for a few years. He really enjoys it and I like practicing with him and watching him play. The next piece of protective baseball umpire gear that I needed was an umpire mask. I just got a plain face one. I didn't think that the hockey style one was what I needed. I also needed baseball umpire gear to protect my shins. I got a pair of those.Basically what I did was go with Diamond umpire baseball gear. They had an umpire baseball equipment package that included a bag, face, chest and shin protectors, and a plate brush and 4-dial umpire indicator. The umpire indicator was the most interesting piece of umpire gear. It keeps track of balls, strikes, outs and the inning. It is my favorite piece of umpire equipment. Champro Sports also offers an umpire baseball equipment package as well. I recommend looking for an umpire baseball equipment package like I got. I found two in my price range and I'm sure you will too. You can really save money by purchasing the umpire baseball equipment as a set and you can be sure you will have the right umpire gear that you need. I actually looked forward to the day my umpire baseball equipment arrived. When it did, I tried all the umpire baseball equipment on and showed my wife and son. At least they didn't laugh. My wife has started calling me "the most hated man in little league." My son just never wants me to be the umpire for any of his games. I think I'm a fair umpire. I'm in my third season so there haven't been too many complaints I guess. I'm having fun and I'm happy to say that my umpire equipment is holding up well and protecting me nicely.
