For years, the trade show industry has been known for being the second most wasteful industry, right after construction. Steps have been taken to reduce wastes, such as creating trade show displays that are almost entirely made out of eco-friendly materials. These display systems use bamboo and recyclable/reusable material for the frame and graphics. There are several other things you can do to become greener at your next event, including the following:
Use a Recycle Bin
Nothing says you care about the environment like allowing attendees and your booth staff a place to recycle water bottles, pop cans, and papers. Clearly label each bin to avoid the wrong items getting mixed in.
Limit the Amount of Printed Literature You Use
These days, more exhibitors are turning to technology instead of printing hundreds of brochures. Add a monitor to your display system for a professional, eye-catching way to display a presentation or video. If your budget allows it, give out or hold drawings for USB's with a copy of your presentation on it.
Most brochures end up in the garbage, so instead of throwing away your money, show the attendees your website. Bring a laptop and show your website to those who seem very interested in what your company has to offer but may have more questions. Walk them through it so they know how to navigate your site from the comfort of their home or office.
Have a Green Trade Show Booth
As I mentioned earlier, sustainable materials are starting to be incorporated into convention booths. The Eco System Convention Exhibits are made entirely of eco-friendly materials, such as bamboo shelves, LED lights, and recyclable graphics and aluminum frames. Not only are they great for the environment, they also have a stunning, innovative look that is unlike any other booth display on the market.
These are just a few of the ways you can convert the trade show industry from being wasteful to being environmentally savvy, but it definitely starts with your trade show booth. I am looking forward to seeing what other ways the industry will become green for the New Year!
