For the last 5 years, the British International School has celebrated the first day of spring in line with Welsh traditions St. David's Day. On the 1st of March the school was decorated with daffodils, a Welsh emblem, and 40 students took part in the talent show in honour of the day.
The school administration announced the talent show in mid-February to give the children time to prepare. With the theme of either spring or Wales, performers could prepare works in a number of disciplines: poetry readings, musical performance, singing, art contest with paintings, and finally a creative project that allowed children to tell about Wales in an open format.
Although it wasn't necessary to take part in all the categories choosing one and performing well was sufficient, multi-art-form performers where tipped for the main prize.
The British International School regards traditions of the United Kingdom, including St. David's Day, as part of their most sacred celebrations. For at least three centuries Welsh men, women and children have attached daffodils and leeks, the national symbols of Wales, to their lapels whilst taking part in parades in the nations high streets.

We try to ensure, that they are successful not only in academic disciplines, but are also motivated to develop their artistic skills. That is why we hold talent contests, our students perform at the school theatre, and visit extracurricular sport clubs that are part of the school", stated Olga Zastavna, General Director of the British International School.
Founded in 1997, and managed by the educational organisation ABE Group (United Kingdom), the British International School is a member of the European Council of International Schools and is the only educational institution in Ukraine accredited and licensed by Cambridge University as the International Examination Centre. The curriculum combines two educational programs: bi-lingual and international program that was developed based upon the curriculum of Cambridge University and the national curriculum of the UK. The division of teaching into the Bi-Lingual and International programs has allowed the school to provide a much more responsive approach to the requirements of the curriculum. Students who are citizens of Ukraine study according to the Ukrainian curriculum and International program and receive a certificate of full secondary education (Atestat) as well as IGCSE certificate. Students on the International Program study according to the Cambridge Examination Board IGCSE and receive only an International Certificate of education (IGCSE).
