We all are aware of our current implications on the environment and how the way we act will impact in the future, but how are we dealing with this in the automotive industry? The eco button is a new introduction on a car, designed to make people more conscious of the environmental impact that cars have on our world. But is it more of a marketing tool of is it there because consumers really want it? Some cars currently have the same sort of idea in a city button which provides lighter steering for the driver and makes it easier to manoeuvre around tight corners and into smaller spaces. Really, it is fifty fifty. People want it because they think it will save them money when they are fuelling up their vehicles, and therefore are looking for vehicles that will help them conserve fuel. But drivers do not want to sacrifice any of the features we have become accustomed to, and so are more interested in features like a button we can press that, although making us go slower, will let us keep all our creature comforts.
So what does it really do? Looking at the Toyota and Lexus vehicles, by pressing the eco button you tweak the accelerator which in turn optimises the climate control, making the vehicle more safe on the environment. Emissions are reduced, and the car becomes a veritable eco safety net for the environment.
Manufacturers estimate a five to ten percent improvement on fuel consumption and on general economical value, and although the eco button' hasn't been tested properly, with tests on miles per gallon being done on the vehicles without pushing the eco button, it is felt that these cars could be a significant move on saving the environment and protecting the world.
What it does add however is the option of choice; you will be able to make a decision based on the vehicles on the market as to whether you desire speed, comfort or the feeling of saving the world. The power is now in your hands! Whatever vehicle you drive, ensure you have Car Insurance.
