Pizza Hopping at Syracuse New York
Pizza Hopping at Syracuse New York

Staying at Syracuse for a couple of months made me think of an exciting activity - pizza shop hopping. I'm on my journey to discover the most fascinating pizza parlors around Syracuse. I know the place has dozens of different pizzerias so my mission is to try them all out. During my first run, I decided to choose randomly from the yellow pages and picked five Syracuse pizzerias. To my delight I reviewed my best pick for this month.

NY Gianni's Bronx Style Pizza, Syracuse (East)

Most people feel that the most delicious pizza should have a perfectly cooked crust. I agree but for me, the quality of the sauce matters a lot if I have to compare one slice to another. My idea of the perfect pizza sauce is the one that has that fresh tomato flavor, not overcooked nor to thick and contains a rich blend of salt and spices. Taking these in account, Gianni's sauce is the winner among the five. In fact, this is one of the best sauces I ever had.

The dough has also an ideal texture and flavor and the crust was cooked exactly the way I want it - thin, brown and crispy. The only thing I can gripe from Gianni's Bronx Style Pizza is the cheese that appears to be a little oily and somewhat stringy. But overall, I enjoyed every bite and I would recommend every one to try it.

Other Syracuse pizzerias that came close to Gianni's are:

Anthony's Pasta Bar, Syracuse (Downtown) - We ordered five different pizzas and all were very pleasing. The taste was great and the toppings and ingredients worked perfectly together.

Two Guys From Italy Pizzeria and Buffet, West Monroe - Those who love a substantial crust excluding the oiliness of pan pizza will absolutely love the Two Guy's pizza.

Pie Shack, Syracuse (West) - I never had the chance to try more samples but telling from just one, I say the balance of crust, sauce and cheese was perfect. Overall, this is one of the best experience I had while eating in a hurry.

Johnny's Pizza, Syracuse - The crust, sauce and cheese are well, like they have a harmony is that dough. All the ingredients has just the right amount of quantity so the pizza came out well-proportioned in terms of flavor and spices.

So, there you go. My first five Syracuse pizzerias that dazzled my taste buds! But this doesn't end here. I have a long list to go maybe around fifty more pizza shops. Stay tuned and watch out for my next reviews. Have fun!
