Hemorrhoids are common both in men and women aged 50 and up. But sometimes you may not realize that you have hemorrhoids until you see blood during a bowel movement. This kind of hemorrhoid is classified as internal hemorrhoids. They lie inside the rectum that is why you can't see or feel them.
Internal hemorrhoids are types of hemorrhoids that occur inside the rectum and they are present if the veins in the rectum area starts to enlarge because of the pressure being applied on them. The inflamed veins may also bleed but no feeling of pain.
Due to lack of pain receptors in the rectum area, one suffering an internal hemorrhoid may not experience the pain but when blood starts to bleed, it is best that you take actions as soon as possible. Bleeding can start if hemorrhoids are irritated.
Internal hemorrhoids can be classified into two different types. Prolapsed hemorrhoids - When internal hemorrhoids will come through the anal opening when straining during a bowel movement; and Strangulated hemorrhoids - A prolapsed hemorrhoid is trapped outside the anus that can cut off the blood supply.
Prolapsed hemorrhoids are often painful and it is difficult to put it back into the rectum. This happens when you have a hard bowel movement. The internal hemorrhoid is pushed out of the anus causing you to feel some pain when sitting for a long period of time. The strangulated hemorrhoid is a prolapsed hemorrhoid that have become trapped by the anal sphincter muscle which is the muscle that controls the opening and closing of your anal opening leading to blood flow cut off.
Relief for prolapsed internal hemorrhoids can include eating a lot of fruits and vegetables rich in fiber that can help ease your bowel movement. Applying creams and gels can also help but be careful of purchasing creams that instead of giving relief to your hemorrhoid pains will cause irritations and further infections.
For strangulated hemorrhoids, treatment may include surgery if it has become a thrombosed hemorrhoid. It is better to seek a medical treatment as this type of hemorrhoid condition requires more serious medical treatment. So with any type of hemorrhoids that you may have, quick attention is required before your condition may become worse.
