Accidents and Tips When In Your Motor

Car accidents rates are high in the UK due to the sheer amount of cars that occupy the roads; a massive increase since the invention of the car. They are more likely to happen in rush hours and peak times, like in the morning commute, and can cause tail backs for miles and disaster for other road users as people slow down to have a look. This practice, often called rubber necking can cause secondary accidents and more disruption to our journeys.

If you are in an accident, then follow these tips to make the process as smooth as possible:

Look to see how many passengers are in the car. Car Insurance fraud is on the rise and if you take a note it will be more difficult for the other parties to claim injuries for fictitious passengers. Sadly this has happened to a great deal of people and drivers need to be active in preventing it escalating.

If the other driver is a foreign national then as well as taking all their car insurance details, ensure that you note down the country they are from and get details of where they are staying in the UK, or they may go back without a resolution and you will have to foot the cost to fix your car.

If your car is un drivable after the incident then take all your personal effects out of the car and let your car insurance company know. If you leave anything in the car there is a high chance that it won't be there when you come back, but only remove things if it is safe to do so.

If you are injured then seek medical attention and inform your insurance provider as they will need to pay for any further treatment if necessary. Get straight to a hospital if necessary!

If you are thorough at an accident then you should find it a lot easier in the future to process and make a claim. Its a shame that you have to be but its the best way to protect yourself from having to shoulder costs in the future.
