Potholes seem to be a way of life for us in the UK nowadays; a day doesn't go past when you drive down the road and bump over a hole. After the cold weather we see them all over the roads and they jolt and jar us as we drive, not to mention the damage they do to our vehicles.
But general motors' are warning that as citizens we should be reporting these potholes to the authorities, as the budgets have been cut and they will not be filling all the potholes as a matter of course, as we had hoped.
General motors' are urging motorists to take more care to prevent damage to their cars and accidents on the roads, and be aware that there are a great deal of potholes on the roads.
A survey conducted last year stated that over half of drivers on the roads had experienced a crash due to a pothole, or at least seen one occurring. It seems that drivers often don't notice the pothole until they have reached it and then try to swerve out of the way, putting other road users in danger. Potholes do a lot of unseen damage to the tracking of our vehicles and if you have a crack or chip in the windscreen it is more than likely that the jolt will cause the windscreen to shatter, leaving you in a dangerous and at least awkward situation at the side of the road.
Potholes have a massive road safety issue and support groups and activists feel that the government really need to do something about them to save us money. They are encouraging drivers to stay alert, as driving straight through the pothole is also not the best way to go about attacking them, but you have to be careful about swerving and make sure you are protecting the safety of other road users at all times.
