Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota Owners: February Saw Sales Increase of 41.8 Percent for Toyota

Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota may have struggled last year after Toyota recalls, but the Japanese company that supplies their showrooms seems to be regaining its original glory as 2011 continues. January saw a 17 percent increase as Toyota Motor Corp continues to make a comeback. Last month, the increase percentage almost doubled as Toyota reported a 41.8 percent rise in sales from February of last year.

"After two months of improving sales, we feel good about the way 2011 has started," said Bob Carter, Toyota Division Group Vice President and General Manager, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. "The launch of our No. 1 for a Reason' campaign last week contributed to an especially strong close, with a big increase in customer traffic and improved sales across the car and light truck segments. We plan to keep the momentum going in March."

Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota customers may be interested to know Toyota was the second highest auto manufacturer in terms of sales increases; General Motors took the first spot with a 46.4 percent increase. There was the same number of selling days last February as this year, and during those 24 days Toyota Motor Corp sold 141,846 vehicles.

According to Toyota's media site, passenger cars had a combined sales of 74,527 vehicles while the light trucks increased 45.3 percent from last year with 53,505 trucks sold. The following are other statistics from Toyota's website:

Light truck sales were led by the RAV4 compact SUV, which recorded monthly sales of 12,562, an increase of 84.8 percent over last February.

Highlander and Highlander Hybrid posted combined sales of 8,622 units for the month, up 138.5 percent year-over-year.

The 4Runner mid-size SUV reported sales of 3,760 units, an increase of 26.5 percent over the year-ago month.

The Tacoma mid-size pickup posted sales of 7,879 units for the month, while the Tundra full-size pickup posted sales of 7,012 units, an increase of 28.2 percent over last February.

Also, for those customers who purchased hybrid vehicles, like some at Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota, Toyota Motor Corp sold 16,461 hybrid vehicles. This number is up 50.2 percent from last year.

So far January and February saw increases in sales, and Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota customers may be glad to know that Toyota is continuing its growth plan as the months continue.
