1. When the program opens click on "I want more control"Then select Dragonfly from the list of planes in the left hand screen.Then select KHAF from the Airports list. This is an airport called Half Moon Bay in California. You can more or less pick any airport but it is best to start away from the big international and busy airports for your first flight.Click next and on the next screen leave all the settings as they are except click in the empty box next to "noon" for time of day. This means you will be flying at noon and again for your first flight you want to be able to see what you are doing in the best light available.
2. The program will now load. This will take a little while as it has to load the plane and the airport and the scenery. When this is finished you will find the plane on the runway ready to take off.
3. Mouse controlYou can control the plane with the keyboard (4, 6, 2, 8) but it is much easier with the mouse. Right click makes the mouse control the view and you can look around outside the plane at your surroundings. Another right click changes the mouse to joystick control. You can see the joystick move around as you move your mouse about. Pulling and pushing the stick makes the plane climb and descend. Moving the stick sideways makes the plane turn left and right.
4. Press "s" on your keyboard to start the engine. Go to your Numbers keypad and press and hold down "page up" to speed up the engine. You will hear it doing that in your speakers.Page Down slows it down again which you will need to know when you come back in to land.
5. As the engine speeds up you will see the plane moving down the runway. If it doesn't then you need to release the parking brake. Sometimes the program opens with the plane with the brakes off and sometimes it opens with the brakes on. You will know soon enough if the pane doesn't start down the runway when you speed up the engine. To release the parking brake you need to press "shift B". Doing that again puts the brakes back on again.
6. As you go down the runway the plane will gather speed and will lift itself into the air. Pull back on the stick very gently when this happens and you find yourself climbing away from the strip.
