subject: Are You Just Starting Bowling? Watch Out for These Three Traps People Fall into when Starting Bowling! [print this page]

Hi there and thanks for check out my article on starting bowling!

I want to cover some of the common traps that new bowlers find themselves running into when just starting bowling. I also want to show you where you can read more about me and my struggles when I was starting bowling.

You ready to go?

Alright, here's the first trap that I notice new bowlers falling into -

A newer bowler is going to have some inconsistency between their games. One game may be a 210 while the next game may be a 110. This is normal though! Don't freak out!

What I see bowlers do then is going out and spend $300 on a new bowling ball without ever really defining themselves as a bowler. What I mean is that they are still trying to determine their style, etc. Bowling balls are very specific to your grip and your overall style of bowling.

Don't worry and don't go out and get a new ball thinking that's going to solve your problems!

Another trap that is common when starting bowling is that bowler tries to learn and do too much at one time. Yes, as bowlers, we must continue to learn, practice and better ourselves. The trick though is to not take on too much. Basically it will end up being counter-productive because you aren't giving yourself the ability to practice enough on one aspect to make yourself better!

The last issue I notice that when just starting bowling, bowlers will become MAD when they don't do well! This is OK because it means that you WANT to do better. It's just a matter of honing your skills and identifying what you can do to be better. Use this "anger" as motivation to better yourself!

Don't allow this anger to take away from what you goals are and that is becoming a better bowler. It's easy to allow your emotions to get the best of you. Simply put, DON'T LET IT HAPPEN!

You are not going to be a bowling profession as soon as you begin starting bowling. It takes time, practice, motivation, skill and desire. Allow yourself the room to grow while keeping a positive attitude.

You will notice just how easy it can be to do well when you begin starting bowling!
