"Bass Down Low" is an electropop song, featuring skittering synths. According to music website Idolator, the song speaks of "taking shots and other various forms of debauchery." The line "And we sip champagne when we thirsty" is a tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. and his song "Juicy". The song begins with Dev singing "If you wanna get with me, there's some things you gotta know / I like my beats fast and my bass down low." During the song's bridge, The Cataracs mention The Black Eyed Peas and their song "Boom Boom Pow". Crowning it the fourth best single of December 2010, Ed Masley of The Arizona Republic compared the song to Kesha's "Tik Tok", but wrote that "every other element of "Bass Down Low" feels custom-made for squeezing 15 extra minutes off that "Tik Tok" clock.
