Let's be honest, the days when you bought a programme and had a couple of books for manuals are over a long time ago. Nowadays, you might get a folder and at best a pdf file that you can print yourself if you really want to. For online games, there are little to no manuals because the rules, the characters and the possibilities are constantly changing.
This is why in most online games and in Age of Conan, you will use the forums a lot.
Anyone can read the forums, but you have to be registered to be able to write in them. You can set your forum account up from your subscription page. At the moment, you will find a link on the left side of the page: Setup My Forum Account. Depending on your account form, you will only be able to write on US-forums or on EU forums, even though you can read both forums. You will be able to write on forums even with a trial account.
The US forums are divided in three parts The first part is Voice of Crom, which is Funcom's official news and announcement forums. These are "read only forums". They are one way. Only Funcom is writing on these forums and it is there, you can find patch notes, changes to class, updates, servers' status, etc.
The second part is General Forums. There are many forums there, and you will surely find what you are looking for. You will find Newcomer's Forum to help you to have a good start, quests' forum, where people help you if you have problems with quests and how to complete them. Class-forums, with sub-forums, where people discuss the different classes. How to play a certain class, technics, feats, etc. In Technical Issues and Solutions, you can post if you have problems with lag, with graphics, etc. There are very often some workarounds and a little thing, file or change can just save your day. These are some of the few forums you will find in "General".
The third part is the server's forums. Each server has its own forum. It can be very useful if you want to plan an event or if there is a special problem on a specific realm.
You will find the US-Forums here: http://forums-us.ageofconan.com/
The Europeans forums are built in the exact same way with the difference that the forums are in different languages. First of all, you have the different languages, which are, right now: English, German, French, Spanish, Polish and Russian. Then each language has the same subdivision as the US-forums: Voice of Crom, General and Server.
You will find the Europeans Forums here: http://forums-eu.ageofconan.com/
The forums are moderated, that means that there are leaders to each forum, and this persons can (and will) interfere if things are going out of hand of if there is trolling going on.
There are lists of the moderators.
You can find the list of the European forum leaders here:

On this page, you can see who is doing what and you can contact the moderator of every forum personally if needed. Beside each name, there is a "PM" button that you can use if you want to PM (send a Private Message) to a specific moderator.
Whenever I have troubles, I check the forums first of all, and I don't hesitate to write in them. I generally receive an answer incredibly quickly, sometimes in a matter of minutes and most of the time, the answers are quite pertinent. Don't forget to configure the system to send you an e-mail when there is an answer in your thread. I choose generally to receive a mail as soon as someone sends something in a thread I started. You then will receive a copy of the post in your mailbox.
